Let’s continue with today’s story.
A friend finally landed two job offers after several weeks of job hunting. They went from having no job at all to having multiple job offers.
You would think the news would bring some reprieve and make them happy.
At least they can now move ahead with their careers. They can now begin thinking about their lifestyle and hoping for lasting career growth.
Sadly, this is not the case.
The multiple job offers brought anxiety. They didn’t feel comfortable deciding between offers and saying NO to offers.
I agree that having numerous job offers can bring new challenges since you have to choose between them and decide which is best for you. But this should not be a process that will cause anxiety.
It should uplift your spirit and bring joy.
After a few days, they finally decided on which offer to take.
Here are five reasons why having multiple job offers is great.
Negotiating Power
When you have multiple job offers, you have better negotiating power. You begin to look at the offerings from each company and decide on the best one for you. I know it can come with some decision-making, but this process will be worth it. You need to know what you want before deciding.
Increased Confidence
When you have multiple job offers, you will have more confidence. At least, it shows that your skills and qualifications are in demand and wanted by my employer. This confidence should also help you choose the best opportunity for you.
Building Your Negotiation Skills
Surprisingly, when you negotiate between multiple offers, you build your own negotiation skills. Before you know it, you might find yourself being a negotiation master because of the skills you would have acquired from speaking to the recruiters to decide on what’s best for you.
Choosing between offers will make you a better negotiator.
Better Role Fit
When you have multiple job offers, you automatically have the power to decide on the role that best fits your needs. This might include career growth, flexibility, values, and work preferences.
Remember, multiple job offers are never a problem. It should help you choose the role best for you and your career.
Stability and Security
Multiple job offers can also provide stability and security, knowing that your job role and skills are in demand.
This step will also help you plan your next journey as you are confident that you can get a new role whenever you want to change jobs.
Closing Thoughts
As you can see, multiple job offers should not bring sorrow to you.
It has many benefits that you can potentially use to advance your career and build your skills. Multiple offers can make you more confident, help you develop your negotiation skills, get a job that best suits your needs and provide some level of security and assurance that a make exists for your skills.
The best way to deal with this situation is to understand what you want and which option would best meet your goals.
From experience, getting lots of offers can come with lots of stress because you must decide, so it’s also a good idea to agree on the best option for you BEFORE you start getting the final offers. Personally, that’s when I’m able to make objective decisions.
Multiple offers should make you happy!
Be happy!
